The Flowers For Kids
Floral Education Program was founded in 2004 by 24 Ecuadorian flower growers. Flowers For Kids
trains florists and teachers how to give an interactive 45-minute class to schoolchildren, parents, and other educators. The class teaches participants how to appreciate and care for flowers. At the end of the class everyone makes their own bouquet to take home.
Flowers for Kids
is now sponsored and actively supported by over 130 floral related companies and organizations: Plant breeders, Flower Growers, Importers, Exporters, Cargo agencies, National and State Associations, Industry publications, Wholesalers, Supermarkets, and Retail florists.
Since 2006 Flowers For Kids
has trained more than 1700 retail florists and 450 mass market employees to become certified Flowers For Kids
teachers. These florists/teachers go to schools the present the program.
